yayyy
power's back now! and i can finally update!
i met with darlene in whole foods/flower dep. she gave me a pretty reasonable quote. but i don't know what is better, pay a bit more for flowers that are made for you... or make them myself? i'm thinking that i might make them myself. the only thing i need to worry about is making the pew decoration that i'm hoping to double as center pieces.
also the kind of flowers. i really like this flower that is called stock:
she was showing me these bouquets with cream colored stock flowers and the steams were cut longer than most bouquets.... with a simple olive colored ribbon tied in a bow tie. it was soooo lovely! and then there was another one that was the exact same thing but it was light peach color. the cream would be perfect for my bouquet and my fiance's boutonniere. the peach for the wedding party. since my dress is a champagne color and the girls have a really beautiful light brown/latte/chocolate mousse color.... i figure the light peach would match nicely. either that or a light pink.i also went to another florist that is really close to our apt.
woodside florist
the lady is a korean lady and she's super nice. it was nice to be able to talk in korean to her and really get her opinion. she's a lot more expensive than darlene. but darlene doesn't deliver and woodside does.i'm in a dilema. i think i might make the flowers myself but i will have a practice session hopefully in the near future to see if it is possible to make bouquets.
*sigh* it's stressful but it's good stress. i enjoy it and it's fun to go around trying to plan things!
hope you guys are well. the power's back on for us and i'm so happy.

I think doing the flowers yourself might be a stretch since the flowers will need to be done very close to the wedding date and you will probably have too many things on your hands as it is. I guess you will need to check your itinerary for the week leading to the date to make sure you can pull it off.
Yeah I agree with Jiffipop. When we were in our last week, things were insane -- way way way too hectic to be doing flowers, especially the day before. You might save some money, but it's SO not worth it in terms of stress.
You know, reading your comment on my page, I had no idea what ethnicity you were until I read it clearly here hehe. You mentioned stuff from all over.
What happened to your power?
RYC: Ohh that's right. I remember now, talking to you about the languages -- on the other xanga though. Amazing, that you speak so many. I'm impressed.
Anyway, you know a way you can do it without a signifcant strain on your time is to use something like... potted orchids. You get them ahead of time, prepare them (decorate) ahead of time, and you can just set them out on the tables as parts of a centerpiece arrangement. It'll also be cheaper than having a florist do them, and you don't have to worry about assembling them the night before. I just used potted orchids as an example, because I have one right next to me right now (see the picture on thousandthdream). They can be really pretty.
oooh good plan. i should try that. thanks t!
Do you think you'll have time to make flower arrangements when you're going to be all excited and getting ready for your wedding? I think you might be pressed for time. I'll be glad to help you if you need it!!
